Matching the Needs of Region, Society, and Country

Due to the growth of the technology industry in Taiwan, the need for people who involve the combining of engineering studies and management studies comes to a significant increase, gradually become a dominant success factor in the business world, especially in the high-tech industry. Technology Management is a cross-boundary study field that integrates engineering, science, and law management. The mission of Technology Management study is to allow students to make connections between separate disciplines. Based on the importance of interdisciplinary, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) established the Graduate Institute of Technology Management in 2007, aiming to fit the tendency of the world.

 

Integrating and extending the Theoretical and the Practical

National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) is the first and the leading higher education institution of its kind within Taiwan's technical and vocational education system, has been the gateway to electrical engineering for Industries, and currently has 14 departments and 24 graduate programs, organized into 7 schools. In School of Management, besides Technology Management, it also has Industrial Management, Information Management, Finance, MBA, and EMBA/Ph.D. program. As an AACSB-accredited management school, NTUST is one of the top management schools in Taiwan. Based on innovative intellectual property and technology management, we introduce the advantage of polytechnic, practical experience, into courses that allow students to participate in the innovation of firms, to help industries facing the environment of intellectual property, and to promote the development of knowledge economy of the country.

 

The Graduate Institute of Technology Management provides a platform to integrate resources crossing every department, comprised of people of every background from all over the world. We enhance the field of Technology studies, and the connection between schools and industries, training students as interdisciplinary people.

Characteristics and Directions

Our characteristics and directions are divided into 3 parts:Management of Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship,Technology Law, and Applied Methods and Data Analysis. Integrating academic researches, Industry-academic cooperation, and international exchange, under the high-tech industry environment and policies, we encourage students to think creatively and develop their own business. Let students acquire the ability to integrate technique and strategical management, technology and law. The summary of each part is as follows:

1. Management of Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship, including strategic management of technological innovation, new business development, managing innovation in organizations, and development of creativity, it helps student doing new business with a creative thinking way.

2. Technology Law : Focusing on technology and law, including specific R&D-related IPR issues, intellectual property law & marketing strategies, enterprise & competition law, and green energy technology policy & energy law, it helps students to acquire the knowledge of intellectual property and technology law.

3. Applied Methods and Data Analysis: Provides the ability to analyze data, analyze network relationships, and visualize big data. Social network analysis, social science research methods, technology management seminars, etc.
